Privacy Policy
RateHop (“we”, “us”) provides a Safari Web Extension and companion app that help you route purchases through the cashback provider with the best live rate among the providers you enable.
What RateHop does with data
- Rate lookups. When checking cashback rates, the extension contacts RateHop’s API with merchant identifiers needed to return rates. These requests are for rate matching, not for building a marketing profile about you.
- On-device preferences. Provider enablement, extension settings, and local entitlement/trial state are stored on your device (including an App Group shared between the app and extension where applicable).
- Merchant matching. Matching visited sites to known merchants is designed to run on your device using a synced merchant registry, keeping browsing context private.
- Subscriptions. Purchases of RateHop Pro are processed by Apple. We may receive App Store transaction information needed to unlock Pro features (for example StoreKit transaction / JWS verification). We do not receive your full payment card details.
What we do not do
- We do not sell personal data.
- We do not require a RateHop account or password to use the app.
- We do not invent cashback offers or scrape your cashback-provider login passwords.
Third parties
Cashback providers and retailers operate under their own privacy policies when you are redirected to or sign in on their sites. Apple processes App Store billing under Apple’s privacy terms.
Children
RateHop is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country).
